学生からの欠席の連絡メールです。

I apologize but I will be unable to make it to class today, 9 Nov. I started to come down with a case of food poisoning yesterday and I have not yet fully recovered. I really just need to spend a day trying to rest and recover as much as possible so that I will be fit to return to class on Wednesday. I look forward to returning to class as soon as possible and will try to the best of my ability to study at home in the meantime.

「食当たりにあった」というのが欠席の理由です。「（病気等）にかかる」という意味でcome down withが使われるのを、初めて見ました（実体験）。簡単な単語の熟語なのですが、これを話し言葉で言われると、ほとんど頭に残りません。簡単がゆえに、素通りしていく感じです。
